Severin Beucker

Dr. Severin Beucker is member of the management board of the Borderstep Institute for Innovation and Sustainability, a non-governmental research organization active in the field of applied innovation and entrepreneurship research and committed to the vision of sustainable development. He has conducted numerous research projects and policy analyses for European and German institutions. His research emphasizes sustainable digitalization and smart energy supply sytems of buildings and urban districts. Severin holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a doctorate in engineering science from the University of Stuttgart. From 1999 to 2006, he led collaborative research projects, industrial consulting projects, and task forces for the development of research strategies in nano- and biotechnology at the Fraunhofer Society, Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. In 2005, he a founded together with colleagues the Borderstep Institute.

Since 2010, he has also been teaching at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Severin Beucker is a in the jury of several cleantech awards and member of international organizations and committees, including a UNEP Working Group of the International Resource Panel.
